Family seeks justice in trial for fatal DUI crash

A 64-year-old St. Johns County man accused of driving drunk in a Nocatee golf cart crash that killed his wife will not face felony charges, according to his attorney. Instead, the case has been worked down to misdemeanor counts and roughly six months of probation.

Jian Bin Chen, 35, was arrested after the March 2025 head-on crash that killed Jody Weber and injured her two-year-old son on I-70 in Wheat Ridge.

Clowie McLaughlin was scheduled for an arraignment hearing Thursday morning. Judge Sean Hatfield instead ordered a competency hearing.
