The spotted turtle (Clemmys guttata) is a small, semi-aquatic turtle with a dark shell covered in bright yellow dots. They are native to eastern North America, ranging from Florida to Southern Canada, and primarily live in shallow wetlands like marshes and swamps. The spotted turtle is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, road and railroad deaths, and collection for the pet trade. They are also vulnerable to predation by muskrats and raccoons.
