In the heart of Yellowstone and Montana, an unseen battle rages on. The majestic wolves, once brought back from the brink of extinction, now face a new threat. The war on these magnificent creatures persists, driven by those who see them as mere nuisances. But the non-consumptive community—comprising local Montanans, Americans, and wildlife enthusiasts worldwide—stands firm, their voices echoing in unison. They believe wolves have an inherent right to roam these lands and enrich our ecosystems.

Let’s talk wolf behavior! It’s always a treat to see the pack rallying! When a pack rallies it’s a social event, consisting of howls, tail wagging, muzzle touching, parallel walking and more. These moments are essential for bonding between pack mates and solidifying social structure within the pack. These are also great teaching moments for our visitors, followers and staff. The ability to see the pack interact with each other in this way gives us a great glimpse into the world of wolf behavior!

Animals aren’t aware of invisible, human-created boundaries. That’s why when more than 20 wolves from Yellowstone National Park unknowingly crossed the park’s protective boundaries this season, they were shot dead. That’s more Yellowstone wolves killed than in any season since the species was reintroduced to the region. And the slaughter is just getting started. We’re fighting back by urging the Biden administration to expand federal protections to include wolves in the northern Rocky Mountain r
