In the mid to late 1800’s a new form of transportation came about, the traction engine. It promised to do the job of a team of horses, donkeys and mules but for a fraction of the time, cost and crew. All across the world farms, businesses and estates purchased these machines to carry out a variety of duties. It seems that even the expansive estate belonging to Father Christmas had a traction engine, presumably he realised that instead of a pack of reindeer, one traction engine could do the same
