The CSX fleet of heritage locomotives is growing again with the introduction of CSX 1897, painted in a custom design honoring the Monon Railroad. Also known as The Hoosier Line and the Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville Railway, the Monon Railroad connected Chicago and Louisville, operating almost entirely in Indiana. The CSX family tree goes back almost 200 years and, much like the diverse employees who make up our #ONECSX team, it's comprised of many heritage railroads. Roll out! CSX Locomotive 1877 honoring the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad has officially joined our heritage fleet. The C&EI Railroad, founded in 1877, played a critical role connecting Chicago with southern Illinois, St. Louis, Mo., and Evansville, Ind., during the expansive growth of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Part of the C&EI's Evansville line was eventually sold to the Louisville and Nashville Railroad which ultimately became part of the modern CSX network. #ONECSX | CSX
