Big feelings aren’t a problem to fix — they’re an opportunity to connect. Emotion coaching is about helping children feel safe with what they feel, before we try to change behaviour or solve the problem. Children don’t automatically know what they’re feeling or why. When we slow down, listen, and name emotions with them, we help turn overwhelming sensations into something understandable and manageable. Research shows that simply labelling emotions has a calming effect on the nervous system. When
